How to Wash Your Waterproof-Breathable Shell?

 Do you own a raincoat similar in style to The North Face Venture Jacket or any waterproof-breathable shell? If you have owned this piece for quite some time you might notice that it's water repelling properties might not be working quite as efficiently as when first purchased. This can simply be due to an accumulation of dirt from any exciting adventures your jacket might have endured. You might have guessed by now that washing the jacket will help to restore it's  waterproof breathable properties.

Step1: WASHING

·         Wash using Granger's G-wash.

·         Use front-loading washing machine (especially if your jacket has a lot of zippers and cords) or hand wash in a bathtub.

·         Close all zippers and fasten all Velcro.

Step 2: WATER-REPELLENCY RENEWAL

·         Do this step only if you see that the water is no longer beading (making little water droplets) on the fabric.

·         Apply Granger`s waterproofing for synthetic fabrics on your washed jacked while it is still wet.

·         For a jacket that is fleece-lined, has fur or a lined collar, use the spray-on for insulated jackets. If not, use the wash-in repellent in another washing cycle but with a low water level.

·         Tumble-dry at low temperature or hang the jacket and use a hair dryer set to warm (the heat is necessary in order for the product to penetrate the fabric). Do not dry the jacket completely.

**Always be sure to check the manufacturer label for proper care instructions, as these may vary.

Etape 1: NETTOYER

·         Nettoyez avec un nettoyant Granger's G-wash.

·         Utilisez une machine à chargement frontal (surtout si le manteau comporte plusieurs fermetures-éclair et cordons) ou laver à la main dans un bain.

·         Fermez bien toutes les fermetures-éclair et Velcro

Etape 2: IMPERMÉABILISER

·         Si vous voyez que l'eau imbibe le tissu exterieur du manteau, que son déperlant n'est pas aussi efficace qu'à l'origine, c'est que votre manteau a besoin d'un traitement pour regagner toute son efficacité.

·         Après le lavage du manteau, appliquez un déperlant Granger's pendant qu'il est encore mouillé.

·         Pour un manteau avec de la laine polaire ou tout autre isolant à l'interieur ou au col, utilisez la version vaporisateur pour un manteau. Sinon, utilisez l'imperméabilisant par trempage en repentant le cycle de lavage avec un niveau d'eau bas.

·         Séchez par culbutage à basse temperature ou étendre sur un cintre et chauffez, sans assécher le manteau avec un séchoir à cheveux (la chaleur est nécessaire pour que le produit pénètre le manteau).
